Kayaking the Florida Everglades: A Search for Endangered Species
Non-Member Member

This trip has been cancelled due to low enrollment.

Friday, December 11 through Sunday, December 20
Instructors: Nathan Taxel and Crystal Seas Kayaking Guides

At half of their original size, the Florida Everglades are one of the most unique and threatened ecosystems in the country. They make up the largest mangrove ecosystem in the western hemisphere and the most significant breeding grounds for tropical wading birds in North America. Escape from the cold Cleveland winter and join us on this trip where we will get up close and personal with the disappearing Everglades. We will spend seven days kayaking, camping and learning about endangered plants and animals that call the Everglades home, what is threatening them and the conservation efforts that are attempting to save them. If we are lucky, we may even spot some 14 animal species that are on the federal endangered list. Price includes all kayaking and camping equipment, all meals while in the Everglades and hotel accommodations on the first and last night. Airfare not included. More information will be available upon registration.  Limit 15 (min 6). Naturalist Certificate Hours: 50.

Note:
A pretrip meeting will be planned prior to the event. Date is TBD.
