Instructor: Roy Kaelin
Make your own mirror for a reflecting telescope! Take this 10-week course and find out how to craft a mirror for a reflector using common industrial materials. Learn the steps necessary to grind and polish a precision optical surface. Also, get tips on telescope construction and how to improve the performance of your existing telescope. Upon the successful completion of their mirror and this course, participants will receive a certificate suitable for framing. The fee for this course includes the cost of materials, however students must purchase glass disks (available from the Museum Store) with which to craft their mirror. Grinding and polishing supplies provided. Minimum age: 12. Young mirror-makers must be accompanied by a parent.
Limit 10.
Price is per mirror. It is reccommended that children 12 to 17 work with an adult on one mirror.
