Please indicate each participants' name and age in the "comments" section upon check-out.

In this session, we’ll explore the stars in the night sky, how they formed, how they shine, why many have distinct color, and when they’ll finally wink out. In addition we’ll examine the origin of our own Solar System and compare it with other stars that astronomers think have families of planets. This experience takes place in the Shafran Planetarium. A visit to the Observatory will include a presentation of its large telescope and how to view the stars with a binocular or small telescope. Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing.

Programs may include hands-on, classroom and/or gallery presentations as appropriate. Students will be grouped by age according to enrollment. Cost of program is $6/person per topic with one adult free. Siblings younger than 6 may not attend these programs for older children.

In response to requests, we are adding programs for 4 and 5 year olds. These hands-on self-directed programs will be related to the topics listed above and run from 1:15 to 2 pm on the same days. Parents are expected to attend with their child. Cost of program is $6/person per topic.
