Ah, February…the month when many humans are led by their hearts. Join our Health Education Science Instructors on an investigation of the anatomy and physiology of this mighty muscle.
*Note: For this class there is an additional materials fee of $1.00 per student to be paid on the date of the class
During this program, students will:
- Practice how to use a stethoscope and sphygmomanometer (blood pressure cuff)
- Find pulse points and discuss how a doctor can tell if your heart is working properly
- Experiment with different types of exercise and how they can affect your heart’s health
- Observe a demonstration of proper CPR technique
- Learn the safe use and correct care of dissection tools
- Dissect a sheep heart, and compare its anatomy to that of a preserved human heart
