CMNH has just acquired a new natural area at Geneva Swamp which is the last example of lake plain swamp forest, a habitat that used to cover thousands of acres from Sandusky to the PA line, including what is now downtown Cleveland. This summer the Future Scientists will spend a week helping restore and preserve this unique and fragile ecosystem. The primary project will be removing invasive plants and transplanting native ones, but students will also get the chance to learn about conservation biology, try variety of restoration techniques and practices, and work side by side with CMNH land stewards.
