| Original Fern Fossil, Neuropteris, N.Germany. This well preserved fern fossil is from the Late Carboniferous period and is on grey shale. Neuropteris is the name given to the foliage of a seed fern. Although their foliage resembled that of modern ferns, they reproduced by means of seeds. Modern ferns reproduce by means of spores. Measures 4.5 x 6 inches. |
