Sand dunes such as these have been forming around the area that was once the Qin Tu Hu Lake.  In the span of 50 years this lake has dried up completely.

In August 2006, the peer-reviewed journal Science published two articles that clearly linked increased fires in the American West with global warming and suggested that this could be a worldwide problem.

Global warming may increase the intensity or frequency of storms. This storm surge was so powerful that the waters lifted this oysterman’s truck off the ground and impaled it on a tree.

The melting of the Pasterze Glacier has accelerated dramatically in the past six to seven years, the average rate doubling in the past three years, according to researchers from the University of Graz.  This amounts to a melt of as much as 30 meters (about 100 feet) per year.

This church is located on the cemetery island in the open waters north of Venice.  The metal breakwater surrounding the corner of the island protects the church from the constant waves that are especially strong during high tide.
