Fieldwork: The Rare & the Wonderful at Singer Lake Bog

One of the few remaining kettle lake bogs in Ohio, Singer Lake is home to 40 species of rare plants and 64 species of rare Odonata (dragonflies and damselflies) and is the largest, most intact peatland the state. Singer Lake Bog is a precious natural area full of rare plants and animals, truly a jewel of The Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Natural Areas Program.

View plant and insect specimens from the Museum’s collection that show the remarkable biodiversity of the site. Find out what the spongy surface of Singer Lake Bog feels like.
