This exhibition will explore the art of facial reconstruction; its uses, methods and the ways it is employed to solve the mysteries of the past and present. Various methods will be explored including 2D and 3D hand modeling using real examples of reconstructed faces and the real-life stories to go with them.

Four hundred years ago Galileo was able to see farther than anyone before him with the newly-invented telescope. How far can we peer outward through the universe today? We may be reaching the limit.

You probably know that the Sun is a star. But just how much like the Sun are the stars that you see in the sky at night? And how far away are they? Will we ever visit them?

May is the last opportunity this year to see the stunning edge-on rings of Saturn. If it is especially clear, we should nab a few of the ringed planet's moons as well.

Staff and volunteers introduce visitors to Northeast Ohio’s wild creatures using live ambassadors from the Museum's Wildlife Resource Center. In May: Many species of wildlife possess shapes, structures, patterns, colors and behaviors that help hide them in their habitats. Predators need to be concealed to sneak up on or ambush their prey. Prey species need to be concealed from their predators. Join us in an exploration of camouflage and learn what you need to do to be concealed in nature.

Enjoy the first signs of spring and a few warblers with the Nature League. Naturalist, Stanley Stine will be our guide. We will meet at the Old Stone House at 10am. Parking is limited, please try to carpool. Get directions to the Old Stone House here.
We’ll start at the Nature Center to learn about these woodland wetlands, and then join us for a hike to see what we can find. Bring your binoculars to scope out migrating birds on our way to the vernal pools to check on their spring progress. Mentor Marsh is an interpretive nature preserve of the Museum and the Ohio Division of Natural Areas and Preserves. It is located at 5185 Corduroy Road, Mentor.
