Individual Gifts
Gifts of any size to the Museum's Annual Fund or to any of our restricted funds are greatly appreciated! Individual gifts go a long way in helping the Museum balance its general operating budget, contributing an average 70% of the annual dollars raised. Individual donors are the critical lifeblood that makes us Ohio's premier institution for natural science!
When You Make a Donation
• For gifts of any amount, you will receive a letter of acknowledgment. This letter thanks you for your gift of support and documents the tax deductibility of your donation.
• Gifts by individuals of $100 or more are recognized in our Annual Report. If you prefer, you may make your gift anonymously.
• Individuals who donate $1,500 or more will receive membership in the Museum's Linnaean Society, which offers special benefits.
The Linnaean Society
The Linnaean Society honors donors who have made significant contributions to the Museum. Individuals or couples who give $1,500 or more to the Annual Fund or a restricted fund become members of this group and receive benefits beyond those of regular Museum membership.
If you believe in the Museum's efforts to bring science to the people of Northeast Ohio, then belonging to The Linnaean Society is a natural choice.

About Carolus Linnaeus
Swedish naturalist Carolus Linnaeus (1707-1778) founded taxonomy, the science of naming and classifying living things based on their physical characteristics. He assigned two-part Latin names to species and grouped them into categories.
Taxonomists continue to utilize hierarchical classification and Linnaeus' binomial nomenclature system. However, they have adapted them to reflect the evolutionary relationships among living things.
