Invertebrate Zoology Collections

Invertebrate Zoology specimens held at the Museum are used for many purposes by staff, research associates, university faculty, and others:

1.  The study of the evolution of life on earth, as well as the study of earth’s biodiversity.

2.  The documentation of environmental change through time- many of our specimens were collected prior to the 1950’s, and a number were collected between 1870 and 1910.

3.  The use of insects as forensic indicators and indicators of environmental stress.

CMNH has two primary collections:

The Entomology Section

The Malacology Section
