Associations & Societies in Ohio
Kirtland Bird Club - A very active birding club covering Cleveland and the surrounding seven county area. Monthly meetings are held at the museum, and free field trips occur throughout the year to many sites in northeastern Ohio.
Ohio Ornithological Society - The most comprehensive website on the birds of Ohio. Where to see them, how to document rarities, where to go birding in the state, and current research projects like the Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas
Black Swamp Bird Observatory (based in Oak Harbor)
Ohio Young Birders Club - For birders aged 12-17, this is a new group with monthly field trips to Ohio's birding hotspots.
Ohio Bird Conservation Initiative
Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland - Monthly meetings are held at the museum. This group is unusual in that it owns and manages several properties in the Aurora area. An education center is being constructed on the Aurora Sanctuary; if you are interested in using this facility for any educational purpose, please contact the chapter.
Western Cuyahoga Audubon Society - Monthly meetings are held at the Rocky River Nature Center. The Rocky River area is recognized as an Important Bird Area and the Western Cuyahoga Audubon is running a large program to monitor bird populations here.
Blackbrook Audubon Society - Based in the Mentor area, this active group holds monthly meetings and field trips.
Kirtlandia Society - A CMNH associated society of natural history, this group meets monthly meetings in the museum with speakers on diverse topics, from ornithology to Ohio geology to fuel-cell technology.
