Jellema holding a mummy's head from the Decimal CollectionThe Hamann-Todd Decimal Collection

This sub-collection is named for its numbering system, which includes a decimal point in the specimen number.  Todd created it to be a repository for human specimens donated or loaned to him by sources other than the cadaver material or items purchased through Western Reserve University Department of Anatomy.

Some of the highlights of this collection include:

• 4 human mummy heads and one postcranial
Three of the heads and the postcranial skeleton are of Egyptian origin. In addition there are three mummified human hands, and a mummified hawk.

• Leonhart’s Fetal Skull series:
This is a series of 13 articulated fetal skulls aged months past conception to birth. It is used to demonstrate the growth of  the human skull.

• Skeletal material salvaged from several construction sites in Cuyahoga county.

• Small collections of human skeletal material made by other doctors.

Skulls from the Leonhart's Fetal Skull series• Todd’s notes and observations on the Torso murder cases of Cleveland’s Kingsbury Run in the 1930’s.

The amount of documentation per specimen is much smaller than that of the rest of the Hamann-Todd Osteological Collection. The documentation that is available is frequently sketchy, and contains many mysteries for future researchers to solve.  In some cases Todd cross-referenced his fossil cast specimens into this collection.
