Wenner Gren Casts
The Museum boasts a substantial collection of the famous Wenner-Gren casts of fossil hominids. As described in Cartmill and Hylander’s 1973 publication, these casts were made with great care to exacting dimensional accuracy. Revolutionary casting techniques (e.g. the use of record casts) introduced by this series of casts were later incorporated into the procedures in use in the Laboratory of Physical Anthropology.
These casts are both on display in the exhibit halls of the Museum and available for study in the Laboratory of Physical Anthropology.
