Toad-ily Frogs

May 9 through September 28, 2008

Location: Corning Gallery
Get to know our amphibian friends by visiting our new exhibition, Toad-ily Frogs. This exhibit  takes a closer look at these animals, the threat of extinction they face and the role of humans in both their decline and survival.

Nesting: Photographs by Judith McMillan

April 25 through July 6, 2008

Location: Fawick Gallery
This exhibition features 18 photographs of nests in the collections of The Cleveland Museum of Natural History. These images explore the nest as architecture, revealing the distinct materials used by individual species of birds and the complexity of forms achieved.

At the same time the photographs investigate the mind of the collector who is driven to possess, preserve, and record what the bird has been able to achieve.

The Canary Project:
Landscape of Climate Change

March 15 through August  10, 2008

Location: Kahn Hall
The Canary Project produces visual media, events, and artwork that builds public understanding of human-induced climate change and energize commitment to solutions. Project co-founder Susannah Sayler presents large scale color photographs of landscapes around the world that are showing signs and forewarnings of climate change. Sayler is also shooting landscapes where successes in conservation and adaptation to climate change are visible.

Fieldwork: Ancient Discoveries from Cleveland to Mongolia

March through June 29, 2008

Location: Lower Level Gallery
The exhibition highlights recent fieldwork conducted in Alberta, Canada, Cleveland, Ohio, and the Gobi Desert, in Southern Mongolia, by Dr. Michael Ryan and the Museum’s Vertebrate Paleontology team. The exhibit includes color photographs, maps and artifacts that illustrate the group’s search process and findings.

Triceratops horridus

Now on permanent exhibit

Location: Kirtland Hall of Prehistoric Life
The Museum has acquired a 21-foot-long, full-sized replica of a Triceratops dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, from 68 million to 65 million years ago.

This exhibit has been made possible by The William J. and Dorothy K. O'Neill Foundation.

Meet Jane, a Juvenile Tyrannosaur

Location: Main lobby
Our newest permanent exhibit, Jane, is a life-sized skeletal cast of a juvenile tyrannosaur from the Late Cretaceous. While some scientists believe Jane may be a juvenile T.rex, others say it is instead a close cousin, Nanotyrannus, of which The Cleveland Museum of Natural History has the only certain specimen.
