Comedy Night at the Museum Exposes Awkward Dating Moments

Cleveland . . . Remember those awkward moments while dating?  Whether it’s that weird handshake hug or torturous silence during dinner, most people can relate.  Local comedians will turn these awkward encounters into a night of laughs at The Cleveland Museum of Natural History. Comedy Night at the Museum is slated for Friday, March 14. Doors open at 7 p.m.; show at 8 p.m.  The Museum is located at 1 Wade Oval Drive in University Circle, Cleveland.

Comedian and Museum staffer Emily Davis (Davis vs. Davis, Caroline’s Comedy Club) will emcee this evening headlined by Cleveland’s favorite comedians Mike Polk Jr. (The Mike Polk Jr. Show, Hastily Made Tourism Video) and Jeff Blanchard (The NCX Morning Show, Improv Comedy Club).  Together with podcast star Tim Cornett (The Awkward Sex Show, The Tim CorNetwork), they’ll explore their own awkward pasts through tales of discomfort and embarrassment.

The evening will also showcase some of the Museum’s own celebrity lineup. Director of Wildlife Resources Harvey Webster, educator Lee Gambol and Dr. Gavin Svenson, curator of invertebrate zoology, will add to the humor with some real science.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore the “Nature’s Mating Games: Beyond the Birds and the Bees” exhibition. Developed by the Natural History Museum, London, and fresh from Paris, Cleveland is the North American debut of this provocative exhibit. It exposes the bizarre behaviors and wild courtship rituals of the animal kingdom.

The night promises to be #NaturallyAwkward and guests are invited to join in the fun by tweeting their own tales of unease.  The top three tweets will be voted on at the show and the winner will go home with a prize. (Winner must be present to win.)

Guests will enjoy complimentary snacks and a cash bar. Tickets: $25 per person. Students with ID $20.  Tickets available online at or by calling 216-231-1177.

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History receives public support with local tax dollars from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, to preserve and enrich the region’s artistic and cultural heritage.
