Cost for programs at the Museum

  • Self-guided visits: $5/student
  • Pre-school programs: $7/student ($70 minimum fee for less than 10 students, maximum of 20 students)
  • Gallery, Shafran Planetarium and live animal programs: $7/student ($140 minimum fee for less than 20 students). For Shafran Planetarium and live animal programs, we may combine small groups in order to reach planetarium/classroom capacity and help avoid the minimum fee.
  • Hands-on workshops: $9/student ($180 minimum fee for less than 20 students)

  • Classroom program: $130 (20 student maximum for pre-K programs, 30 student maximum for K-12 programs); for three or more programs scheduled in one day, the cost is $110/program
  • Classroom program & lab: $250
  • Assembly programs: $250 (50 minute program) or $400 (two-hour Growing Up & Liking It program)
  • For schools outside Cuyahoga County: $35 travel fee per day, and a minimum of two programs scheduled on the same day
  • Live animal assembly program: $400 for schools within 30 miles of the Museum, $450 for schools within 31-60 miles from the Museum.

Cost for Distance Learning Programs

  • $130 for a maximum of 30 students
  • $30 overbooking fee for 35 or more students
  • Add $10 shipping fee for Forces and Motion and States of Matter
  • Add $30 shipping fee for any program other that includes a kit
  • $25 off each presentation if five or more programs are scheduled


You will receive a confirmation notice one month before your program. Please check the confirmation for accuracy. If you need to cancel or reschedule your program, we ask that you do so at least one calendar week prior to your scheduled program. Failure to provide timely notice of a cancellation will result in the charge of your program’s minimum fee. A cancellation fee will not be charged if the class is canceled due to weather.


Please pay at the front desk upon arrival. We accept cash, checks, credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express) and purchase orders. For outreach and distance learning programs, payment is required within 30 days of the program.


  • In-house visit: we require one adult for every 10 students. Teachers and chaperones are admitted without charge up to one adult for every five students. Additional adults will be charged $7. Museum memberships and other discounts are not valid for instructed or self-guided visits.
  • Outreach and distance learning programs: the teacher must remain in the classroom during the presentation.

Arrival procedures

Plan to arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for check-in. If you arrive late, the length and content of the program may be altered as needed to fit with the day’s schedule.


Limited lunch room space is available for brown-bag lunches. Weather permitting, outside picnic areas are also available on Wade Oval.

Box lunches through Exploration: A Zack Bruell Restaurant are $5 per student. Up to 6 teachers eat free when selecting from the full lunch menu!
