and Jurassic Marine Reptiles
Mary Anning (1799–1847) was a pioneering paleontologist and prolific fossil hunter from Lyme Regis, England. As an early woman in paleontology, she was not celebrated as a scientist during her lifetime. But Mary Anning’s legacy continues to inspire women in the natural sciences. She is well-known for her discoveries of Jurassic marine reptiles like plesiosaurs and ichthyosaurs.
