While the extinction that wiped out the non-avian dinosaurs at the end of the Mesozoic Era is cinematic and well-known, there have been many other extinction events that fly under the radar. The Late Ordovician, Late Devonian, Permian-Triassic, and Triassic-Jurassic extinctions all preceded the one that eventually laid waste to the dinosaurs, and each had a unique set of causes and effects.
