The Cleveland Museum of Natural History plays an integral role in the conservation of high-quality ecosystems. Our preserves contain many unique wetland habitat types, including marshes, bogs, fens, swamp forests, and palustrine sandplains. Preserves such as Koelliker Fen, Singer Lake Bog, Mentor Marsh, and Geneva Swamp contain unique suites of plant species that are native to particular types of wetland ecosystems. In total, the Museum has conserved thousands of acres of wetlands in northern Ohio.
