Join us for an autumn stroll at the Museum’s Wolf Run Preserve. This site protects nearly a mile of the Vermilion River and features a variety of habitats and geological formations.

We'll walk along the river, admiring the shale cliffs that tower over its banks. If the water is low enough, we’ll explore the ice-scour micro-prairie on an island in the river. We’ll skirt a wide meadow, catching the last of the late-blooming wildflowers.

And we’ll venture into the winding box canyon where Wolf Run, a tiny tributary of the Vermilion River, flows. We’ll take in the fall colors along the way.

After the hike, we invite you to join us at a local winery.
