Welcome to the Museum!
You're about to experience natural history like never before.
For more than a century, we have encouraged visitors to look outward at the magnificent world around them and inward at the connections that bind them to nature. This December, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History will reveal the most sweeping transformation in its 104 years.
Our Grand Opening will take place from Friday, December 13, through Sunday, December 15, inviting you to explore our new galleries and reimagined exhibits for the first time. The transformed Museum features more than 375,000 square feet of new and expanded spaces and more than 2 acres of outdoor visitor areas. (If you consider the size of the average T. rex, more than 900 of them would fit in our new and expanded spaces!)
Our all-new Museum experience will offer one-of-a-kind encounters with the natural world, inspiring curiosity and wonder. Learn more about our Transforming the World of Discovery campaign.
As we count down to our Grand Opening, the Museum remains open for visitors to our current exhibits, engaging programs, and newly opened spaces. The Museum's new Visitor Hall showcases some of our most iconic objects and specimens, including Haplocanthosaurus (Happy), Balto, Dunkleosteus (Dunk), Lucy, the Moon rock, and more. This community space is free to all.
