DNAirobi

Held in May 2023, the “DNAirobi” workshop was a joint effort between Dr. Ebeth Sawchuk, Associate Curator of Human Evolution at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and colleagues at the National Museums of Kenya, Harvard University, and Rice University. The first population-focused DNA and ancient DNA workshop held in Africa, the event took place at the Nairobi National Museum with grant funding from the John Templeton Foundation, the Wenner-Gren Foundation, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Participants included leading scientists in archaeology and genetics, museum curators and heritage officials, community leaders, and students from across Africa and around the world. For more information about DNAirobi and recommendations from the workshop, now published in the American Journal of Human Genetics, visit our science blog.
