Fall is a great time to look for fungi of all colors and forms at Mentor Marsh.
Sharp-eyed participants will help us “collect” fungi via iNaturalist to add their data to our biodiversity project. Bring your favorite field guide; we’ll also have some to share.
Location
5185 Corduroy Road, Mentor, OH 44060.
Field Trip Intensity
Moderate; family-friendly
What to Bring
Please bring a mobile phone or iPad with the free iNaturalist app already downloaded. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear closed-toe, sturdy shoes for off-trail explorations.
The Carol H. Sweet Nature Center is located at 5185 Corduroy Road in Mentor. From November through March, a naturalist will staff the Nature Center from 11am to 4pm on the first Sunday of the month. From April through October, the Nature Center will be staffed from noon to 5pm on Sundays.
Guided, family-friendly nature hikes are offered every Sunday at 2pm. Meet at the Nature Center unless otherwise indicated. Our programs are a go in all but severe weather, so please come prepared for the weather conditions. We recommend long pants and sturdy shoes, as some trails may be muddy.
