Celebrate moths at Mentor Marsh!

Join Cleveland Museum of Natural History staff on a search for moths—at night! We’ll set up several stations with light traps—lights of varying wavelengths projected onto sheets—to attract moths and other insects, allowing us to get up close with these nocturnal winged wonders.

Dark-colored clothing is encouraged. Bring a flashlight or headlamp to help you navigate the preserve in the dark.

Guides

Becky Donaldson, Garrett Ormiston & Ken Schneider

Location

We will start at the Mentor Marsh Nature Center (5185 Corduroy Road, in Mentor).

Field Trip Intensity

Moderate (mostly because we’ll be out in the dark); family-friendly

What to Bring

Sturdy, comfortable footwear, weather-appropriate clothes, and perhaps a camera and water. Long sleeves, long pants, and bug spray advised. Bring a flashlight or headlamp. Blacklight flashlights are welcome.
