Since the early 1990s, astronomers have confirmed the existence of more than 6,000 planets orbiting distant stars!
Many of these objects are extremely bizarre—unlike anything found in our backyard. Others appear to be more Earth-like and potentially habitable. Join us as we survey the wide variety of environments uncovered outside our Solar System, and meet the fleet of telescopes currently working to detect and characterize these alien worlds.
