Join the Friends of CMNH on the second Saturday of each month at 10am for coffee, refreshments, and conversation, followed at 10:30am by the Friends of CMNH Science Series.
Hear from Dr. Jon Wlasiuk, the author of An Alternative History of Cleveland, as he presents a summary of his book followed by a discussion. The book dives into Cleveland's deep past and provides a new vision for how we should think about the region today. The land we call "northeast Ohio" was originally forged through eons of glacial pressure, geologic shifts, and the relentless movement of the Cuyahoga River. Since the last Ice Age, however, it has also been transformed countless times by the many people who have called it home.
Dr. Wlasiuk relied on information provided by the Museum's Ambassador Emeritus and former Chief Wildlife Officer, Harvey Webster, and other former Cleveland Museum of Natural History resources to develop his narratives. This book uncovers the mysteries, devastations, and human incursions that have shaped the region and created the Cleveland of today.
This event is open to the public. Registration is required, whether you plan to attend the 10:30am talk in person or virtually. You will receive the Zoom link in your registration confirmation email.
