Join the Friends of CMNH on the second Saturday of each month at 10am for coffee, refreshments, and conversation, followed at 10:30am by the Friends of CMNH Science Series.
What if Lake Erie could help power the communities that surround it? Marine energy uses the movement and properties of water, including waves, currents, and temperature and salinity differences, to generate electricity. This talk will introduce the science and technology behind marine energy, explore the opportunities and challenges of harnessing energy from Lake Erie, and examine how marine energy fits within the broader Blue Economy. Dr. Jeff Dusek will also share ongoing research and student projects at Baldwin Wallace University that are exploring marine energy and other ways engineering can support the future of the Great Lakes.
This event is open to the public. Registration is required, whether you plan to attend the 10:30am talk in person or virtually. You will receive the Zoom link in your registration confirmation email.
