CLEVELAND, OH—January 22, 2026—The Cleveland Museum of Natural History invites the community to a compelling evening of discussion titled The Science of Influence with Alexis Nikole Nelson on Thursday, February 19, 2026 in the Museum’s Murch Auditorium.

Part of the Linda and Les Vinney Know Your World Lecture Series, this program features Alexis Nikole Nelson, the forager and content creator known online as @blackforager and one of TIME magazine’s TIME100 Creators of 2025. Nelson is known for her infectious enthusiasm about the benefits of sourcing food from nature, and has amassed millions of followers across social media, teaching others about plants found in the wild. Nelson holds degrees in environmental science and theater from the Ohio State University, and has given a TED talk, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel, and been featured in publications such as the New York Times.

During a moderated discussion, the program will explore Nelson’s love of science and nature and how she began her journey into foraging. The conversation will also highlight how she draws on her background in environmental science and theater to inspire audiences to get outside, engage with the natural world, and become citizen scientists.

Event Information

Museum doors open at 6:30pm; the discussion will begin at 7pm. Beverages and grab-and-go items will be available for purchase in Origins Café before the program. Parking is available in the Museum’s attached garage. Standard rates apply.
